Shelley Sims
Senior Tax Analyst, AFSP, Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor, MA, LBSWShelley’s career in taxation began in an unexpected—and very personal—way. After receiving an IRS audit letter resulting from errors made by her own tax preparer, she enrolled in tax courses to better understand and address the situation herself. Along the way, she discovered not only an aptitude for tax work, but a genuine passion for helping others navigate the complexities of the tax system with greater confidence and understanding.
Today, Shelley is a Senior Tax Analyst who brings together tax expertise, problem-solving skills, and a professional background centered on helping people. Before entering the tax field, she built a career in counseling and social services, work she continues today in a limited capacity.
Shelley earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas State University in 1992 and became a licensed Social Worker in Texas in 1994. She later earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from Amber University in 1998 and, following the presentation of her thesis in 2001, became nationally certified as a Clinical Forensic Counselor.
Shelley and her husband, Mark, made Maypearl their home in 1996, where they raised their two sons, Kenneth and Colton. Today, they are proud grandparents to four grandsons and remain deeply connected to the community they have called home for three decades.
At Sims Tax Solutions, Shelley combines her professional experience with a personal understanding of how overwhelming tax issues can feel. Her goal is to provide clients with knowledgeable guidance, clear communication, and the personal attention they deserve.
Sue Montgomery
Senior Tax Advisor, Notary Public With a diverse background in accounting, taxation, and social services, Sue brings a unique blend of analytical skill and client-focused care to the team.
A native of Southwest Iowa, Sue began her career journey on her family’s farm before life and work took her from Germany to California, to the Midwest, Arizona, and ultimately to Texas. Her financial experience includes nearly 15 years in the accounting department at an aviation company, 10 years operating her own tax preparation business, and extensive experience with an Arizona CPA, where her responsibilities ranged from trial balances and bookkeeping to corporate tax preparation and filings. Sue also spent time as a case worker in Missouri and Arizona, an experience that honed her ability to connect with and support people from all walks of life.
After two years of retirement, Sue realized she missed the field too much to stay away. She joined forces with Shelley in January of 2024 and hasn’t looked back, bringing her extensive bookkeeping and tax expertise to our clients here at Sims Tax Solutions.
Randall Cockerham
Office ManagerBorn and raised in Waxahachie, Randall has strong ties to the local community and a genuine appreciation for the people and businesses who call the area home. His years in hospitality helped develop his organizational strengths, communication abilities, and commitment to exceptional customer service—all of which he brings to the office each day.
Known for his willingness to help and his ability to find answers, Randall works closely with clients to make sure their questions are addressed and they know what to expect throughout the process. His approachable nature, broad range of knowledge, and eagerness to learn have made him a trusted resource for both clients and the Sims Tax Solutions team.
Whether he is assisting a client, answering questions, or helping keep things moving behind the scenes, Randall brings a steady, welcoming presence to the office and is often one of the first friendly faces clients encounter at Sims Tax Solutions.
